BOOK REVIEW: THE SMART MONEY WOMAN

BOOK TITLE: THE SMART MONEY WOMAN
AUTHOR: ARESE UGWU
GENRE: FICTION

REVIEW BY: READERS LOUNGE (@readerslounge)

WARNING: ONCE YOU START READING, YOU WON’T STOP TILL YOU GET TO THE END!!!

Have you ever been in a situation that made you want to hide from your landlord? Are family responsibilities draining your savings? Do you own a business but it does not pay your bills? Are you curious about how to handle your finances?

Then this is a book you do not want to miss!!!

The story revolves around Zuri and her friends: Ladun, Lara, Adesuwa and Tami, (I love these ladies). The story starts with Zuri finding out she is unable to pay some of her bills and even attempts hiding from her landlord (raise your hand if you have been here, no judgement).
It seems that despite having a job that pays pretty well, she still struggles financially. Where is her money going? She begins looking into her finance and it takes almost getting sacked from her job, to realize that she has nothing saved up.

She opens up to her friends and together they begin a journey to financial freedom which initially is not pretty and each one begins taking a proper look at their life and finances (do you have friends who you can do this with?)

do you have friends who you can do this with?

I totally loved reading this book, it was both entertaining and educative, I learnt many things which I practice in my life, like the formula for splitting your income.

I loved all the characters in the book especially the fact that they were all well to do. We keep reading about rags to riches story so this was a refreshing twist from the norm. Also, for a long time when money is mentioned we tend to think it’s a man’s thing but that narrative has changed, as many women are found in varying works of life, so it is important that women learn not only how to earn money but also keep it and build a legacy with it.

Even though I recommend this book for all women both young and old, the lessons in this book is not peculiar to women alone as anyone can pick a thing or two from the book.

I love the cover of the book, simple and stylish and the content is even more. The author really did a lot of research and used a lot of names and places you can identify with. I loved the style of writing and also the notes at the end of each chapter.

I give this book a double thumbs up!!!
